The Data Security Analyst will support the AFRL management team in the areas of classified data center and supercomputing facilities operations and security support during Normal Operations (in-garrison operations) at AFRL’s normal location as well as during the execution of a Continuity Of Operations Plan (COOP) or similar contingency plan during emergency situations, and during the return from the emergency situation to the Normal Operations posture.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Provide government-directed briefings, training, informational meetings, deliverable reports, and documents.
  • Assist the AFRL/RC Security Manager with completing directorate-wide security tasks.
  • Assist the Site Security Representative (SSR), Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (GSSO), and AFRL Security Manager run daily Classified Supercomputing Facilities (CSF) and oversee directorate-wide security management activities. CSF tasks include those inside and outside classified areas.
  • These services include but are not limited to escorting customers performing work within the CSF, opening, and closing the facilities, retrieving and storing classified data files, creating and submitting documentation related to CSF operations and other security-related tasks.
  • Assist the AFRL and DSRC staff with controlling physical access to the classified operational areas.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and handling, dispatching, and destroying classified material. This task includes removing shreds of destroyed classified material from the vault areas to the data center’s dumpster or recycling areas.
  • Coordinate with other contractors associated with the AFRL and DSRC, actual or potential customers, and the government to optimize the security operations of CSF.
  • Provide services to assist AFRL execute responsibilities relating to developing physical, information and information assurance security plans required by Public Law 100-235, “Computer Security Act of 1987” and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-130, “Management of Federal Information Resources”, Appendix III, “Security of Federal Automated Information Resources” and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) (DOD 5220.22-M) including its Special Access Program supplement.
  • Assist the government’s operations with regards to the security aspects of planning, operating, and protecting the CSF and data. This assistance includes planning, developing, and implementing computer systems and associated special protection technologies.
  • Assist with developing Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) or similar agreements between AFRL and other organizations.
  • Assist with preparing information assurance and special access program security case files for review and signature by the Designated Approval Authorities (DAA’s) and Program Security Officers (PSOs).
  • Provide support to the AFRL/RC Security Manager for all aspects of the organization’s Security Awareness Training and Documentation. The task includes providing support to the SSR and GSSO for Security Awareness Training and Documentation within the CSF.
  • This support shall include developing, presenting, and documenting security awareness training with an emphasis on threat awareness, individual security responsibilities, emergency preparedness, and recovery procedures.
  • Respond and assist with any computer security incident responses including those occurring during non-duty hours.
  • Provide support to plan, develop, and implement security for the physical aspects for AFRL.
  • Maintain classified operations logs via an appropriate mechanism such as a classified database.
  • Provide support for advanced planning to predict and detect breaches in security.
  • Apply knowledge to provide technical security services relative to CSF and assist with implementing Information Security, Industrial Security, Personnel Security, Communications Security, Resource Protection, Force Protection, and Anti-Terrorism programs.
  • Applies knowledge of program protection, technology control, system security engineering and related DoD and Air Force Instructions (DoDIs and AFIs).
  • Supports Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) or Emergency Plan Preparation, Coordination and Testing Actions.
  • Assist with accrediting new and existing facilities in terms of developing facility and TEMPEST accreditation packages IAW Intelligence Community Specification (ICS)-705, Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG), and HQ AFMC SCI Management Guide, and applicable Security Classification Guides (SCG).
  • Help the AFRL and Defense Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) customers navigate challenges and define the best solutions to satisfy classified computing facility requirements.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
