Description

The System Administrator – Windows Server System Support will work under general supervision; typically reports to a manager.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Hardware Support
    • Dell 4-Node Windows Cluster with Dell EqualLogic 500TB SAN on the NIPRNet
    • Dell 2-Node Windows Cluster with Dell EqualLogic 500TB SAN on the DREN
    • Physical Member Servers on NIPRNet (8), DREN (3), and Enclave (4)
  • Operating System Support
    • Windows Server support for versions 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 (future requirement)
    • Windows Server installations and upgrades
  • Windows Hyper-V and Virtual Machine (VM) support
    • NIPRNet 20 VMs
    • DREN 17 VMs
    • Enclave 6 VMs
  • Print Server Support (all networks – NIPRNet, DREN, and Enclave)
    • Create and maintain approx. 400 print queues, for approx. 264 printers
  • Backup Support (all networks – NIPRNet, DREN, and Enclave)
    • CommVault primary support
    • Server backups (approximately 150)
    • Workstation backups (approximately 2,000)
    • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) backups (numbers not yet established)
  • Application Installation and Integration with some Application Support
    • Microsoft SQL Server (various versions)
    • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) support
    • Support for current Access Control System (ACS) in Building 18 and support of new ACS coming soon
    • Support for numerous application license servers to include but not limited to:
    • AutoCAD
    • Bentley MicroStation
    • Siemens NX
    • SolidWorks
  • Patching
    • Reviewing the WPAFB Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) Web page weekly for needed patches on NIPRNet Servers.
    • Reviewing the Wright Research Site (WRS) Vulnerability Reports weekly for needed patches on DREN Servers.
  • Securing the environment
    • Provide Risk Management Framework (RMF) deliverables to the Cybersecurity Team as necessary.
    • Performing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) on servers.
    • Operating System STIGs
    • Web/IIS STIGs
    • Database/Instance STIGs
    • Other STIGs as necessary
    • Updating the WPAFB STIG Reporting website monthly.
    • Ensuring all server software is approved for the system/network on which it resides.
  • Maintain Active Directory (AD) Objects on 3 Domains (and on a 4th domain with limited access)
    • Add/Delete/Modify Users, Groups, and Computers
    • Maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
    • Maintain Other AD Objects as necessary
  • Set File Share Permissions
    • Maintain permissions on 283 Custom Shared Folders and numerous sub-folders.
  • Maintenance Agreement Management
    • Maintain Hardware and/or Software Maintenance Agreements as necessary.
    • Maintain Software Licensing Agreements as necessary.
  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within systems administration.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a development and production environment.
  • A high degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Must adhere to security standards regarding For Official Use Only (FOUO) data, Personal Identifiable Information (PII) data, as well as DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as software/db are developed and deployed.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
